Great for half term, yummy homemade chocolate cookies. These will keep the whole family very happy indeed!

Ingredients

100g butter
50g cocoa powder
175g granulated sugar
125g self raising flour
Icing sugar for rolling out

Method : Preheat the oven to 190°CMelt the butter gently in a saucepan then remove from the heat and stir in the cocoa and granulated sugar until well mixed. Add the flour and stir again into a thick dough. Turn onto a surface covered with a sprinkling of icing sugar and form a well blended dough ball. At this stage you can either roll the dough out until about 2cm thick and use a pastry cutter to shape into biscuits, or, they are just as tasty if you roll them into small balls (about the size of a ping pong ball) and then gently squash them onto a greased baking tin.

Cook in the oven for 8 minutes then remove and leave until completely cool (they will continue to cook for several minutes after leaving the oven).

Serve to your children with a cold glass of milk or brew a nice pot of peppermint tea and enjoy yourself!
