A Taste of Thame

“Thame Food Festival touches the hearts of people because it is a real festival” Giancarlo Caldesi supporter and celebrity guest chef.

The party to launch the 4th Thame Food Festival which is to be held on Saturday 24th September was a huge success.

The event, which was held in the form of a ‘safari’ supper at three show houses at David Wilson Homes’ impressively luxurious Windmill Place development in Thame, was attended by 50 people. The idea of the launch party was to start the countdown to the Thame Festival on 24th September and to thank sponsors, partners and supporters alike.

Fraser Sutherland of Thame’s own James Figg pub and The Thatch restaurant, who kindly provided the drinks on the evening, summed up the experience as ‘Quintessentially English’. An aperitif on the lawn to the sound of jazz trio ‘Society Jazz’ was followed by a starter, buffet and delicious strawberry and chocolate desserts with cheese in each of three of the show homes. The desserts also featured patron Lotte Duncan’s own fabulous Thame Tart.

The food was prepared by Thame’s What’s Cooking.

Thame Mayor David Bretherington said “It is great to be able to support the festival in such a novel setting with such excellent food. I’m looking forward to making the Thame Tart as big as Bakewell’s.”

Ian Craddock, senior culinary developer, of generous head sponsors McCormick, home of Schwartz spices, was amazed by the turnout.

Paul Moran of David Wilson Homes Southern, sponsors of the Festival and generous hosts and sponsors of the evening was ‘delighted to be supporting an event as worthwhile as Thame Food Festival’ and thought it would ‘improve the exposure of the town’.

Serving staff on the night were Festival organizers Alison Isherwood, Debbie Jones of Imaging Essence, Sally Dorling of Marketing Foods and patron Lotte Duncan.
